Dealing with 7-4 Hands

Say you are holding the below hand and partner open the bidding with 1NT.

Do you make a Stayman or transfer directly into heart?

	10 7 5 4  A Q 10 9 8 5 4  4  J

I would suggest you to treat all 7-4 hand as a single suiter unless partner has shown a long suit in your 4-cards suit.

Imagine you are in 4 with a 4-4 fit, the lead may already force one of your trump.

If you are losing the lead in trump again, they can force another round of trump.

Hence, your 7-cards suit can hardly be enjoyed and you may have problem getting to another hand to draw the trumps.
